With the start of any wrestling season, whether it be high school, college or freestyle and Greco-Roman, getting your wrestlers to focus and frame their mind is crucial to development.

On Episode 7 of the Attack Style Wrestling Podcast, coach Daryl Weber identifies three main areas with your wrestlers to get their mental framework and mindset in gear.

Be Coachable
1. Don’t look for easier way than coach is telling you.
2. You will always find someone to tell you the easier road is acceptable.
3. Life will be much easier, if you are coachable. You improve quicker, have more confidence and aren’t always looking over your shoulder.

Be Positive
1. Anyone can be positive when all is good.
2. Mentally tough people find a positive spin when the chips are down.
3. Example: If you get taken down and start shaking your head.
4. Expect & Be Prepared to Deal with Adversity

Be Accountable
1. When coach corrects you, does it upset you or do you have a sense of urgency to correct things?
2. Most people are quick to throw pity parties. Separate yourself from the pack by holding yourself accountable regular.

What exactly should you and your wrestlers be thinking about on match day? What's important about the match day preparation? Everything.

On Episode 6 of the Attack Style Wrestling Podcast, NCAA champion and nine-time state championship coach Daryl Weber will explain the five key areas of match day preparation and go through what the first four areas mean as they all lead to the opening whistle.

Coach Weber will explain the post-weigh in process, how to handle the day's warm-up and how to handle down time between matches and your initial warm up. Once you've wrestled your first match, how are you dealing with the break? What do you do the 20 minutes prior to taking to the mat and when the whistle blows, how do you flip the switch?

All those topics are discussed on Episode 6 of the Attack Style Wrestling Podcast.

Drills are an important part of any wrestler's growth. On Episode 5 of the Attack Style Wrestling Podcast, we'll talk with Christiansburg High School coach Daryl Weber and legendary former Iowa wrestling coach Dan Gable on the fundamentals of drilling for wrestlers and coaches.

There are hundreds of different drills wrestlers can use to perfect their technique, but finding the right techniques for the right wrestlers is also a key component of coaches teaching their wrestlers.

Coach Gable talks about the drills he picked up and used while coaching at Iowa and Coach Weber breaks down how he goes about teaching young wrestlers to know how to drill before they even get to learning how to perfect the technique.

Attack Style Wrestling provides a great teaching tool with its Skill Development and Drill Pack, available at AttackStyleWrestling.com/products.

On Episode 4 of the Attack Style Wrestling Podcast, coach Daryl Weber takes a break from the summer camp grind to talk about how the landscape of wrestling camps have changed and how he looks back at his time working camps from his days at Iowa.

The camp system has evolved. While the week-long, or even month-long, camps are still common place, the internet has allowed the wrestling camp and training systems to be brought into wrestling rooms, living rooms and basements around the world.

While Attack Style Wrestling has been offering different systems over the past few years, the latest launch is for the Gable Trained Academy.

Coach Weber talks about how the system works and why it's modeled for coaches and athletes of all levels.

Episode 2 of the Attack Style Wrestling Podcast brings in Christiansburg High School wrestling coach and 1996 NCAA Division I champion Daryl Weber into the fray with his brother Lee and of course, coach Dan Gable.

Gable looks back at the start of his coaching career and things that lead to that first NCAA championship and some things that went wrong leading into the notable "X" year where Iowa was looking for its 10th straight NCAA team title.

Gable and the Weber brothers talk about the NCAA championships, their opinions on Ohio State winning the NCAA team title for the first time in school history.

Gable goes into a lot of detail about some training with the 1987 team as well as his response to Ben Askren regarding his online rant that followed the National Duals. Gable agrees with some of it and then talks about Carver-Hawkeye and the role the fans play there.
